BIO

Rodrigo Garagarza (Mexico City, 1971) is a contemporary painter and sculptor celebrated for his ability to transform materials like cardboard and wood into striking three-dimensional forms. His natural inclination toward sculpture and architecture led him to formal studies in Architecture in Mexico and additional art courses in Italy and France.

After graduating, Rodrigo worked as an exhibition designer at the Museo Nacional de San Carlos, Mexico’s premier European art gallery. During this time, he honed his aesthetic sense, mastering the use of light, materials, and color. He also earned a scholarship to study Museology at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic.

In 2011, Garagarza established his own sculpture studio, creating scale models that have been realized as medium- and large-scale works for prominent private collections in Mexico and the United States. He has exhibited in notable venues such as the Palacio de Minería (Mexico City), Museo de Antropología de Xalapa, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Querétaro, and the San Antonio Botanical Garden (Texas). His work seamlessly blends art and architecture, reflecting a profound understanding of geometry and aesthetics.

“My work reinterprets the everyday through geometry, creating sculptures that transform objects into visual and spatial experiences.”
