Arquicostura
Traditional embroidery reinterpreted as contemporary artistic expression in public spaces.

BIO
Arquicostura is the artistic project of Raquel Rodrigo (Valencia, 1984), a multidisciplinary artist with a Fine Arts degree who currently lives and works in Valencia.
Known for her large-scale public interventions, Raquel’s work detaches embroidery from its textile tradition, presenting it as an artistic expression associated with architecture and installations.
Her career focuses on redefining traditional embroidery in contemporary culture by developing concepts, techniques, and materials that adapt to new formats and contexts. Arquicostura fosters reflections on the perception of art and craftsmanship, inviting audiences to reconnect with cultural heritage from a modern perspective and consider how tradition can adapt to the contemporary world without losing its essence.
Since 2013, she has executed numerous public art interventions nationally in cities like Valencia, Madrid, Salamanca, Zaragoza, and León, as well as internationally in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Munich, Lyon, Istanbul, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Riyadh, Qatar, and Cape Verde.
Her work has been showcased in fairs and festivals like Fuori Salone (Milan), Urvanity Art Fair (Madrid), Lima Design Week, Asalto Festival (Zaragoza), and Upfest (Bristol). She has collaborated with brands like Hilton Hotels, Diriyah Season, Barceló Hotels, Barclays Bank, UtopicUs, and Replay.

“My work harmonizes the contrast between tradition and modernity, fostering a reconciliation between our customs and the present.”
