Aggtelek

BIO

“Aggtelek” is the artistic project of Gema Perales (Barcelona, 1982) and Xandro Vallès (Barcelona, 1978), currently based in Bali.

With over 20 years of collaboration, they have built a recognized artistic career marked by their playful irreverence toward the status quo and deliberate deconstruction of traditional contemporary art standards in mass culture.

Aggtelek’s work captures and condenses the situations and sensations of today’s world through painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and video art. Their boundless visual appetite and obsessive drive to create result in an extensive catalogue of reflections, forming a comprehensive snapshot of contemporary society.

Color, humor, joy, and critique are the ingredients of Aggtelek’s “Happy Conceptual Meal” from their “Post-Post-Post-Pop Menu.” Since 2004, their work has been showcased in galleries, museums, biennials, and art fairs worldwide, including cities such as Berlin, Miami, Mexico City, London, Frankfurt, Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona. Their works have been exhibited in institutions such as MOCA (Los Angeles), Fundación Tapies (Barcelona), Stedelijk Museum Het Domein (Sittard), and in fairs like Liste (Basel), MACO (Mexico City), Shangart (Shanghai), Artebo (Bogotá), and ARCO (Madrid).

“Our art liberates viewers from daily tensions, inviting them to laugh, play, and reflect from a creative perspective.”
